Nissan Micra will be on Indian roads soon

You will drive Nissan Micra on Indian roads soon. Nissan Motors has already sent a test consignment of six Nissan Micra to Spain. It is the same model for Indian roads. Nissan Motors is looking to make India as exports hub for small cars of the company. 100 countries including Middle East, Africa and European nations will get Nissan’s small car exported from India.

“Trial transportation for exports is a very important milestone for us as we gear up for exports to Europe from second half of 2010,” said Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motors.

Nissan is gearing to launch its small car Micra in the Indian market in June first week. Nissan will launch only petrol model initially. After judging market response it will introduce its diesel variant. The petrol Micra is powered by 1.2L 3-cylinder engine which will produce 80bhp power. The diesel version is expected to feature 1.5L TDCi engine delivering 65 bhp. The same engine is currently present in Mahindra Renault Logan entry level sedan model.

As per Mr Tokuyama, the export of Nissan Micra from the India will start from July this year. The shipment was expected to reach Barcelona in 3 weeks. Company was expecting to start exports to Europe from second half of 2010, added Mr Tokuyama. After its launch in India, Nissan Micra will be competing with some of the most popular cars in India, including Maruti Swift, Ritz and A-Star, Hyundai i10 and i20, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia.
