Recently when a brand new Tata Nano caught fire in Mumbai while being driven from showroom to owner’s place, Tata Motors said it is one of a kind incident. That incident is still fresh in public memory and now one more brand new Tata Nano caught fire. It was being driven with eleven more Nano cars from Vadodara to to a dealer in Makarpura. Even Before it was delivered to the dealer this Nano caught fire at the rear body part where its engine is fixed.
“One vehicle from a fleet of cars that was being transported to the dealer’s showroom caught fire on the way. We don’t know what led to the fire. We are investigating the cause of this fire. It was not sold to anybody,” said Tata Motors’ official spokesperson.
“We are investigating the cause of the fire but there is no design flaw with the car. The Nano has successfully passed all the national and international safety and durability certification,” he added.
Before this incident the Nano caught fire three times in the last year even in the parking lots. The reason for those incidents was faulty switches and it was being replaced in all models under production by the supplier.
