After the success of 100cc Discover DTS-i, Indian two-wheeler giant Bajaj launched Discover 150 today. With competitive price you can expect a price war in 150cc bikes segment soon. The new Discover 150 with a tagline “More Excitement per Litre” will be available at a price tag of Rs. 46,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Discover 150 is the first bike in the ‘Commuter Sports’ segment which offers the utility of a commuter bike combined with the performance, style and features of a sports bike to bring in a renewed passion for biking. The bike is BS III compliant and is powered by 150cc DTS-i engine that generates 13ps @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 12.75 Nm @ 5500 rpm. The bike returns mileage of 65kmpl with its new engine that comes with 5-speed manual speed box.
The new Discover 150has some attractive features like electric start, Nitrox suspension, disc brake and wider rear tyres. According to S Sridhar, Bajaj Auto chief executive officer (two-wheelers), Bajaj Auto had set a target of selling 3.6 million two-wheelers in a year with Discover brand alone contributing more than one million units. It will also increase its production from 275,000 vehicles a month to 3,00,000 a month.
“There will be some cannibalisation within our own brands with the new launch. But the customer base will remain intact,” Sridhar said. Bajaj is also planning to launch exchange schemes and dealer promotions with the launch of its new bike.
