With Toyotas, Chevys and Skodas giving tough time, Honda Motor Company Limited is planning to introduce new variant of its popular sedan Honda Civic by 2012. The car has been potted testing rigorously on American roads. Though the company has not revealed the launch date of this upcoming model, but, industry insiders speculate that the new model will be introduced somewhere at the end of year 2012.
The 2012 Honda Civic will remain front-wheel drive for cost and packaging reasons, with a four-cylinder the most likely option. Customers will likely be able to choose from a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a manual transmission. It is too early to speculate anything about the car but going by the basic profile of the car, we can say that it will have more or less the same design as the current gen Civic sedan.
The new variant of Honda Civic will be available in petrol and hybrid options. Also, in the international market, there will be the sedan variant and the Coupe variant of the car.
Reports suggest the car will get a new petrol engine, and the diesel version will have an engine smaller than the 2.2-liter currently on offer. Potentially, the car could get a dual-clutch transmission similar to those found on their motorcycles.
