Micra Diesel And Nine New Models From Nissan Soon

As we all know Japanese car maker, Nissan, has tasted success with its Micra hatchback in India very shortly. Encouraged by its demand Nissan Motor India Pvt Limited has revealed its plan of launching a total of nine new cars in India by 2012, said a top official of the company. The company will bring out the Nissan Micra Diesel, the diesel variant of its recently launched model, Micra in the country.

“Our product launch plan to India is aggressive, as we have planned to line-up nine models by 2012, of which five models will be produced in India and four models will be the imports from Japan,” said Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motor India Pvt Limited. He further said that the company will begin shipping Micra models to overseas markets – European, Middle East and African markets from their plant in Chennai from this month.

He also said that company’s first milestone is to have more than 100 dealerships across India and achieve sales target of more than one lakh units annually. He further stated that the company will be bringing the diesel variant of its latest small car model Micra in India before the end of this year.

Tokuyama pointed out that 2010 has been an action-packed year for Nissan India. He said that after inaugurating the First Alliance Global Plant-Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Limited in March this year, they started the production of four first made in India, global compact car, the Nissan Micra.
