With fuel prices going high every month in India Diesel cars are becoming very popular as they are more fuel efficient and cheaper to run. Maruti Suzuki, country’s largest car maker, senses that diesel saloons are gaining popularity in the Indian car market as such cars offer improved power, performance, and fuel efficiency. So the company on Wednesday announced that, it will bring in Maruti SX4 diesel sedan model equipped with 1.3 litre turbo charged early by 2011.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Executive Officer (Production) M M Singh said in a statement, “The production of a 1.3L diesel engine with turbo charger is going on and we will start assembling it in SX4 once our plants reopen on January 3 next year after the annual weekly maintenance shutdown.”
He did not reveal the time span for the rolling out of the new car but expects to be come soon. The turbo charged diesel powertrain is equipped with various added features which helps them making more proficient that the ones available which is capable of churning better power.
The Maruti SX4 is currently the highest priced mass-segment car in Maruti’s India portfolio. The car is available in both petrol and CNG versions in the Indian market and carries both automatic and manual transmission options. The major competitors of this car in the country include Hyundai Verna transform, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Etios and Fiat Linea.
