One of India’s largest automobile company, Tata Motors announced in a statement that it has sold 54,108 units in the month of November. This number includes the company’s over-all sales from Tata Motors’ commercial and passenger vehicles , including exports. The company registered growth of 1% over 54,108 vehicles sold in November 2009. The company had sold 32,696 units in the same month in 2008. Domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for November 2010 were 50,419 nos., 1% growth over 50,114 nos. sold in November last year.
Passenger Vehicles
The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 16,365 nos. (15,340 Tata + 1,025 Fiat) in the domestic market in November 2010, lower by 28% compared to 22,671 nos. (20,706 Tata + 1,965 Fiat) in November last year. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles are 15,340 nos., lower by 26% over November 2009. Sales of the Tata Nano were 509 nos., lower by 85% over November last year. The Indica range sales were 5,716 nos., lower by 37% over November last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 6,009 nos., a growth of 1% over November last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria range accounted for sales of 3,106 nos., higher by 40% over November last year.
Commercial Vehicles
Tata Motors’ sales of commercial vehicles in November 2010 in the domestic market were 35,079 nos., a 19% growth compared to 29,408 vehicles sold in November last year. Light Commercial Vehicles sales were 20,376 nos., a growth of 21% over November last year. M&HCV sales stood at 14,703 nos., a growth of 18% over November last year.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 273,650 nos., a growth of 23% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 156,407 nos., a growth of 15% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 117,243 nos., a growth of 37% over last year.
Exports
Tata Motors’ sales from exports at 4,203 vehicles in November 2010 registered a growth of 5% compared to 3,994 vehicles in November last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 36,851 nos. are higher by 84% over 20,069 nos. in the same period last year.
