Indian luxury car market is expanding and how! First Audi India confirmed that it is going to launch all new A8 and A7 in the market this year very soon. Now, to give Audi some competition, the iconic British car brand Jaguar has launched two new variants of Jaguar XJ, the diesel XJ-L 3.0 and supersport XJ-L 5.0 V8.
The Jaguar XJ-L 3.0 diesel is loaded with many efficient technologies which determines the superior performance of the car in its segment. Its 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine churns out 275 PS of maximum power and 600 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is capable of acceleration from 0 – 100 km/hr in 6.4 seconds and can propel the car up to a top speed of 249 km/hr.
Jaguar XJ-L supersport comes with a high technology 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine which is capable of generating 510 PS of maximum power. With these features, the model will give a tough time to the major players of the segment.
XJ-L 3.0 diesel variant, priced at Rs. 77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and XJ-L 5.0 V8 SuperSport variant, priced at Rs. 1.11 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Jaguar offers the XJ-L 3.0 diesel variant with an additional rear seat entertainment package pushing the car’s price further to Rs. 85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Jaguar XJ-L series will compete with Audi R8, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S Class in India. The much expected model to be launched by JLR is the new Evoque. Range Rover Evoque will be launched in 160 markets including India this year.
Jaguar which is owned by Tata Motors has XJ, XF, XFR and XKR with price bracket of Rs. 48 – 92 lakh in Indian market. Land Rover in India offers models consisting of Freelander 2, Discover, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs with prices ranging from Rs. 63 lakhs to Rs. 4.75 crore).
