Hero Honda, Suzuki, TVS Motors Registers Hike In Sales In January

India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda registered a increase of 19.68%, selling 4,66,524 units in January 2011. While another bike manufacturer Suzuki Motorcycle India today reported 40% growth in sales to 28,598 units for the same period. The country’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer reported a 30% jump in January sales to 1,65,152 units.

This is the ninth consecutive month of four lakh-plus sales for Hero Honda, coming on the back of five-lakh plus sales each in October and December 2010. The company had sold 3,89,802 units in January last year, Hero Honda said in a statement.

Suzuki Motorcycle India had sold 20,448 units in January 2010, the company said in a statement. The company has Access 125, SlingShot, GS150R, Hayabusa 1300 and Bandit 1250S in its portfolio in the country.

TVS Motor’s two-wheeler sales increased by 29 per cent in January, 2011, to 161,725 units, compared to 125,578 units in the same month of the previous year, the company said in a statement. Motorcycle sales of the company rose by 24 per cent in January this year to 67,721 units from 54,698 units in the year-ago period, it said. Scooter sales grew by 60 per cent in January, 2011, to 40,736 units, as against 25,509 units in the same month last year.
