Mercedes Benz Launched G-Wagen In Mumbai Today

Mercedes-Benz India has launched its off-roader G-Wagen in Mumbai today for the price tag of Rs. 1.1 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The G in this new Mercedes-Benz stands for Gelandewagen, which is German for cross country vehicle. The G-Class is the longest passenger series and the flagship model, the G-55 has made its way into the Indian market.

The company has launched the G55, which has a AMG tuned 5.5 liter petrol V8 producing 507bhp at 6100Rpm and 71.4kgm of torque at 2750Rpm. Weighing 2500kgs and mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox, the G55 reaches 100kmph mark in 5.5 seconds. The SUV was made for the tough road terrains is a four wheel drive with five speed automatic transmission along with all disc brakes.

The off-roader is designed with a raw and rocky looks, which has maintained by the German company for years. Nationally Rally Champ Hari Singh exhibited the true capability of the SUV at the Juhu Aerodrome in Mumbai.

The G-Wagen was initially developed as an army vehicle in the late 1970s. The civilian version of this off-roader appeared in the year 1979 without compromising at all on its basic power, which determine its popularity.
