We reported earlier that the new Tata Nano Diesel will be launched in September 2011 citing car vendors as sources. But, now according to some reports in media, Tata Motors could launch Nano Diesel earlier than expected.
According to the same reports, Tata Nano Diesel will be priced Rs. 30,000 more than the petrol Nano. The rumours about the car’s mileage are floating on internet communities like wildfire. Some speculates Nano Diesel to be the most fuel-efficient diesel car in India, with a estimated mileage of around 40 km/litre!
The engine is expected to displace 600-700cc. It will be a compact 2-cylinder engine with a turbocharger and common rail system.
After taking some heavy beating in the month of November 2010, Tata Nano’s sales bounced back in the next month. The automatic transmission version of Nano will be introduced by end of 2011, according to some sources.
