McLaren has officially introduced the new MP4-12C GT3 which has been jointly developed with CRS Racing. Currently, the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is undergoing trials on the MIRA and Silverstone race tracks in UK. The race-version of McLaren’s new coupe is nearly four inches wider than the street version. It also features completely reworked suspension, which was first tested on McLaren’s in-house simulator.

Under the hood is a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 which has been “tuned to race specification.” Details weren’t released, but the engine is connected to a new Ricardo paddle-shift transmission which promises near instantaneous gear changes.

The racing-spec suspension includes specific chassis and braking components, including Bosch ABS and Akebono calipers. McLaren Electronic Systems is supplying a new electrical architecture, including electronic dash and data technologies in the cockpit.

The racing GT3 version of the car is not allowed to use the proactive Chassis Control System equipping the standard MP4-12C, but it did get race-specific roll bars and dampers.
