One of India’s largest utility maker, Tata Motors, will unveil a next generation small car concept, Pixel based on its micro-car Nano platform at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. There are no real photos of the car available for now. However, there are some teaser images of the Tata Pixel which have been released by Tata Motors.
According to the reports, the three Winged doors small car currently at concept stage will be an experimental model for the European market that will come under the all new brand. Though the Pixel is based on the Nano platform, it will be bigger than the ‘world’s cheapest car’ and will have a gull-wing type 2-door, 4-seat layout.
Tata Motors executive at the Geneva Motor Show confirmed the unveiling of the car by its Chairman Ratan Tata but refused to disclose any details. “Its one of the most promising car from the Company is all I can say,” said a senior organizer for Tata Motors at its stall at the Geneva Motor Show. Tata Motors executives at the Motor Show neither confirmed or deny the unveiling of PIXEL by its Chairman Ratan Tata.
Pixel will be different from the Nano Europa and the production version of the new small car may get launched in European markets as early as 2013. The Nano Europa was showcased at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show and was expected to go on sale in European markets. But the 2-door Pixel makes more sense for Europe as it’s likely to feature larger front seats and smaller seats (for kids) at the rear as in the Volkswagen Beetle and Fiat 500 small cars.
