This launch makes Apache RTR 180 the first Indian bike with ABS technology, leaving behind Honda CBR250R which is yet to be launched officially, though its bookings has started already.

TVS claims that the new Apache RTR 180 ABS, which will be made available in only White color, will have 20 – 30% better stopping power than the non-ABS version, especially on wet roads. Interestingly, addressing the bike enthusiasts, TVS has given provision to switch off the ABS.

Anti-lock Braking System or ABS technology is an integration of a HECU (Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit) and Independent Wheel Speed Sensors which help determine when a wheel is likely to get locked.  When the brakes are applied hard, the wheel tends to lock. At this point, the HECU takes over instantaneously and modulates the brake pressure  continuously to keep the ‘Apache RTR 180 ABS’ in the most effective braking zone while ensuring precise maneuver.
