India’s luxury car segment got new upgraded model! German automobile giant Volkswagen launched new 2011 Passat sedan in India, today. The 7th generation Passat with BlueMotion technology was unveiled at a glittering ceremony at Hotel Taj Land’s End, Mumbai. The new car is launched with same class and looks, although most of the body panels have been changed.
The all-new Passat will be available to customers in the diesel variant in both automatic and manual transmissions, starting at 20.80 lakh ex showroom Delhi. Sales of the all new Passat will start with the Highline and Comfortline which will later be followed by the Trendline.
Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion TDI equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine in the domestic auto market. The diesel engine is capable of producing a robust 170 bhp and an excellent 350 Nm torque. The new car is powered with fuel saving measures like reduced engine idle speed, longer gear ratios, Start-stop technology, Regenerative braking etc.
Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion diesel is priced at 20.18 lakhs for the Trendline model, however the Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion Comfortline model is tagged at Rs 23.80 lakhs. On the other hand Volkswagen has priced the Highline model at Rs 25.65 lakhs.
The Passat Trendline variant is equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the Comfortline and Highline variants feature a DSG box. Manual versions feature a gear shift indicator to help improve fuel consumption.
