Pune-based Garware Motors launched Hyosung GT650R and ST7 superbikes in Mumbai today. Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal made his presence felt at the launching event, who became the first proud owner of the bikes in India. Hyosung motorcycles are manufactured by South Korea based S&T Group (Science & Technology). The superbikes are earlier launched in New Delhi and Pune, before coming to the financial capital of the country.
Bollywood heartthrob Arjun Rampal who will be the company’s first customer was seen riding away a brand new Hyosung ST7 cruiser. Rampal is not appointed brand ambassador, his presence is only to promote the brand’s entry into Mumbai.
The Hyosung bikes will be initially available in five cities – Pune, Mumbai, NCR, Bangalore and Goa. The company has tied up with HDFC bank for providing retail finance. The Hyosung ST7 is priced at Rs. 5.96 lakh , the GT650R is priced at Rs. 4.97 lakh and the GT650R dual color is priced at Rs. 5.13 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Garware Motors targets a sale of 2,000 Hyosung superbikes this year and expand its dealership to 15 pan-India in the next three-months, a top company official said. The company has set up a small assembly plant at Wai in Maharashtra which can manufacture manufacture 8-10 bikes a day.
“We are targeting a sale of 2,000 bikes this year. We are in the midst of expanding our dealerships — we presently have five which we plan to increase to 15 in the next three-months,” Garware Motors’ Managing Director, Diya Garware , told reporters today.
