Audi is going offensive with the launch of four new sport sedans in international market. German car magazine Auto Bild has managed to scoop some details of these four upcoming S8, S7, S6 and RS6 models from Audi.
The first to come among these four sport sedan will be the Audi S8, which will be launched at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The S8 will feature a new 4.0 liter, twin-turbo V8 engine developed and shared in cooperation with sister brand Bentley.
This new engine will deliver a total of 493 BHP. That will be increase of 50 BHP over current model but the new model will still outdo it on fuel-economy by about 20 percent. The engine will come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive system.
Two months after the launch of S8, audi will come out with 2012 S6 and S7 models at the Los Angeles auto show. Both models will also get the new 4.0 liter V8 engine with an output of 434 HP in the S6 and 464 HP in the S7. There is no information whether they get naturally-aspirated, single-turbo or twin-turbo variants of the unit.
Finally, Audi will launch RS6 which will get that 4.0 liter, twin-turbo V8 too as Audi appears to be making the most out of the power plant. Thecar will be configured to deliver 572 bhp and keep the model competitive with its arch-rival – the recently unveiled BMW (F10) M5 which comes with 552 bhp. But, it will be launched in late 2012. till then BMW M5 will enjoy its solo run.
