As reported earlier, Toyota Kirloskar Motors today officially confirmed the launch of Etios Liva hatchback on June 27th. Liva will be the first hatchback model from Toyota in Indian market where it will compete in the already crowded segment of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo.
Mr Sandeep Singh, the Deputy MD of marketing at TKML, said, “We are very happy to announce our entry into the popular premium hatchback segment with the Etios Liva. The Etios has been very well received by our customers across the market.”
“We have delivered more than 20,000 cars as on date. We have successfully reduced the waiting period to less than 1 month by undertaking necessary steps to increase the production. We look forward to a good response for the Etios Liva. Details will be announced at the time of the launch,” he added.
The car will initially be available only in petrol engine with a 1.2-litre motor mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Etios Liva will most likely sport a 80 bhp , 1.2-litre petrol engine, with about 114 Nm of torque.
The Etios Liva will have over 70% local content from launch, going up to 90% next year. We expect Toyota to benchmark and price the Liva just below the segment leader – Maruti Swift’s – pricing, and also to compete with the Ford Figo and Hyundai i20.
