According to the latest report, Maruti Suzuki is going to launch its much awaited 2011 Swift hatchback on August 17 in India. Meanwhile, the new Swift’s official website (www.marutiswift.com) has gone online. In addition, a print advertisement in many newspapers has appeared today to popularise new Swift.
The advertisement also mentions that Maruti Suzuki has invested more than Rs 6,000 crore towards increasing production capacities and developing R&D, hence being able to bring down the waiting period for its cars. The Alto, Omni, Eeco, Wagon R, Swift and Swift Dzire are hot cakes in its attack and some take months to be delivered.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki has stopped the production of old Swift and dealers have stopped taking bookings for the existing Swift. Bookings are open for the new Swift and Maruti is insisting customers who have booked the old Swift to shift to the new generation model.
While the new version of Suzuki Swift launched last year in Europe, it is yet to be launched in India. The launch was delayed due to labour strike at Maruti’s Manesar facility last month. In Europe a buyer has the option of 1.3 litre diesel engine and a 1.2 litre petrol engine. It is not known whether Maruti will launch this version of the Swift.
