General Motors India today launched one of the most awaited car of this year, the Chevrolet Beat Diesel. Touted as India’s most fuel efficient car, Beat Diesel is priced at Rs 4.29 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine and promises to return a massive fuel economy of 24 kmpl!

The 1.0 litre diesel engine, which has been developed specifically for India by GM’s Technical Centre in Bangalore in collaboration with GM Powertrain Europe, is the company’s smallest diesel engine globally, Karl Slym, president and managing director at GM India Pvt. Ltd. told at news conference.
The Chevrolet Beat Diesel is to be manufactured from the company’s Talegaon manufacturing facility. The car will be available in four different variants the Beat Diesel PS, the Beat Diesel LS, the Beat diesel LT and the Beat Diesel LT Option. The high end variant of the Beat Diesel will also feature ABS and air bags among others.
