Tata Motors Sales Declines 0.70% In June

The largest automobile company in India by volume, Tata Motors, has reported today a marginal 0.70 per cent decline in total sales during June, 2011. The company sold 66,358 units compare to 66,824 units in corresponding month in 2010.

Tata Motors sold 21,993 passenger vehicles in domestic market in June a fall of 20.91 per cent from 27,811 units in the same month last year, the company said in a statement.

The world’s cheapest car Tata Nano’s sales were down by 29 per cent at 5,451 units during last month. The ‘Indica’ range reported sales of 8,188 units, down 9 per cent from June, 2010, Tata Motors said. The ‘Indigo’ family recorded sales of 4,882 units, a decrease of 35 per cent vis-a-vis the same month last year. Sales of ‘Sumo’, ‘Safari’ and ‘Aria’ fell by 4 per cent to 3,472 units.

In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 39,271 units in the domestic market during the month compared to 34,791 units in the same month last year, up 12.88 per cent.
