Tata Motors entered into premium car segment with much hyped launch of Aria crossover. But, the car failed to live-up the hype and registered declining sales month-after-month largely due to high price. So, Tata Motors has been planning a stripped-down version of Aria at lower price tag. Now, according to some reports, the new Aria 4×2 will be officially be launched on 2nd August 2011.
To cut off the price of Tata Aria, the company have altered many features to bring it an equivalent price of Toyota Innova, 4×2 wheel drive instead of current 4×4 is one of them. The current Aria is Rs 2-3 lakh costlier than the segment leader Toyota Innova.
The first India made crossover is powered by a 2.2-liter Direct Injection Common Rail Engine with Variable Turbine Technology. It’s BS IV compliant, with twin exhaust outlets. Maximum Power is rated at 140PS@4000rpm while maximum torque is 320 Nm@ 1700- 2700 rpm. The engine is mated with a G-76 Synchromesh gearbox.
