Japanese automobile giant Toyota Motors’ Indian subsidiary, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, almost doubled its sales figure for the month of June 2011. The company’s sales soared by 95% selling 12,034 units during last month compare to 6,180 units in the corresponding month of 2010.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 5,002 units of mid-sized sedan Etios which was launched in December last year. The company recently launch Etios Liva hatchback, which is Toyota’s first small car for India.
Toyota’s popular multi-purpose vehicle, Innova, continues to rule the segment with 4,665 units sold in June. The company sold 737 units of its latest small car Liva, 629 units of premium sedan Corolla Altis, 990 units of SUV Fortuner, 9 units of luxury sedan Camry and 2 units of hybrid car Prius.
“The growth in sales is a clear indication of customer’s confidence in Toyota products. We have increased Etios production as a result of which its waiting period has now come down to 15-20 days,” TKM deputy managing director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said.
