2011 Indian F1 GP Tickets Sale Opens

Jaypee Sports International (JPSI), the organisers of Indian GP, opened ticket sales for India’s first-ever Formula 1 race – Airtel Indian Grand Prix – to be held in October this year. And according to initial reports over 1,000 tickets of different categories have been sold in the first 100 minutes. Construction is still underway for the new $ 350-million Buddh International Circuit (BIC) outside New Delhi.

An enthused Sameer Gaur, Jaypee Sports International Ltd MD and CEO, said, “We expect tickets to sell out in about 10 days.”  The total seating capacity of the venue is about 1.2 lakh.

The tickets – valid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the race week – are priced in the range of Rs 2,500-6,000-6,500-8,500-12,500-35,000 and are available on www.jaypeesports.com as well as www.bookmyshow.com in the first phase.

In the second phase, the tickets will be made available at different outlets across the country including in metros and tier-two cities.

Fans can choose their preferred seat location while booking their tickets.

The Rs 2500 tickets are for the natural stand, which can accommodate 6500 fans. Then comes the Picnic stand for which 8000 fans will have to spend Rs 6000 each. For 36,838 seated Classic stand, the ticket price is Rs 6500.

The two most expensive stands to watch the race are Premium Stand and the Main Grand Stand. While the price for premium stand is Rs 12,500 for each of the 10,230 seats, it’s a whopping Rs 35,000 for the each of the 20,156 Grand Stand seats.
