With 3145 cars sold in first seven months of this year beating 2010′s annual sales figure of 3003 units, Audi India is on a roll. The company’s January-July 2011 sales is up by 93% thanks to some exciting launches this year. (Audi India has launched 2012 A6 saloon today itself for the satrting price of Rs 37.7 lakh) The luxury car maker sold 343 units in July 2011 compare to 221 units in corresponding month last year.
Michael Perschke, Chief, Audi India, said, “We attribute our solid sales growth to our philosophy of thinking ahead of the curve and our ability to bring innovative and progressive products to India. With an exceptional sales performance in the first seven months, we are well poised to achieve our sales target of 5000 cars this year.”
“We at Audi India have adopted an aggressive expansion strategy for the year 2011 and in view of this expansion we will be infusing skilled talent at all levels – corporate, dealership and production. This move reiterates our commitment to be a part of the India growth story and will help us achieve the leadership position in the luxury car segment in India,” he added.
Audi India started this year with the re-launch of Audi R8 sports car in January. The car is equipped with V-10 engine instead of earlier version which had V-8 engine and is priced Rs 1.35 crore (ex showroom Delhi). The Audi R8 Spyder with 5.2-liter V10 engine was launched in March 2011.
Then, in February it launched Audi A8 L for the price tag of Rs 89,00,000 (ex showroom Delhi). This super luxury sedan allowed the company to further build upon the tremendous growth potential that the Indian market presented.
In May the Audi A7 Sportback along with powerful sports car RS5 were launched in the country. A7 Sportback has sleek style and design and is available in both petrol and diesel variants.
