Honda Motor after split from its long-term Indian partner Hero MotoCorp is looking at the country’s rural market to increase company’s market share. The Japan based two wheeler giant is going to expand its product portfolio to cater to rural market with the launch of entry level 100cc bike very soon.
Honda Motorcycles India has appointed five management teams across India led by Japanese executives to create a new decentralised marketing structure for consistent sales, Economic Times reported. It has plans to increase its dealership network and service centers in India by 25%.
Right now, Honda Motorcycles India has lots of bikes in its portfolio such as Honda CB Twister, Honda Shine, Honda CBF Stunner, Honda Unicorn, Honda Dazzler, Honda Activa, Honda CBR250R, Honda CBR 1000RR, Honda Activa and Honda Dio. But, all these two wheelers are targeted at customers from cities and big towns.
The company wants to change this scenario as its partner turned competitor, Hero Group, sales 50% bikes in rural areas from its total volume of 5 million bikes every year. The Japanese two-wheeler maker is working on a new version of the CD platform in the 100-cc segment, where Hero’s CD Dawn and CD Deluxe have the highest sales.
