India’s largest automobile company Tata Motors today launched the new 4×2 version of its crossover MUV Aria in New Delhi. The Aria 4×2 range will be available from Rs 11.61 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi). According to a company statement, the vehicle promises ‘sedan like finesse, handling and ride quality and SUV like performance, off-roading capability and stance’.
We all know that the Aria 4X4 (four wheel drive) did not match up to the expectation of being the premium crossover. The dismal sales of the Tata Aria Crossover, could be one reason why Tata has come up with the 4X2 version at a very competitive price tag beginning from Rs 11.61 Lakh.
Tata Aria 4×2 is for those in need of decent off-road capabilities as well as luxury and technology. The car comes with a 2.2 litre Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine delivering 140 PS power and 320 Nm torque, with dual mass flywheel.
The car will be available in three trim levels – the Aria Prestige at the top end, the Aria Pleasure and the Aria Pure. Pleasure and Prestige are priced at Rs 12.61 Lakh and Rs 14.21 Lakh respectively. The Pure variant is the basic model without airbags, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, electrically auto folding outside mirrors, front fog lamps, etc.
Safety features include disc brakes on all four wheels, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Breakforce Distribution (EBD) and dual airbags, will be available in Pleasure & Prestige variants. The Aria 4×2 will be available in six colours- Sardinia Red, Night shade Black, Castle Grey, Quartz Black, Pearl White and Arctic Silver.
Mr. P M Telang, Managing Director – India Operations, Tata Motors said, “As the first Indian 4×4 crossover, the Tata Aria has broken a new path for Tata Motors. With the introduction of the Aria 4×2, we make the range comprehensive. The pleasure of the Aria, combining the finesse of a sedan with the muscle of an SUV, can now be availed by a larger customer segment.”
