Tata Motors Global Sales Slips 6% In July

Tata Motors reported that its global sales a declined by 6% in July 2011 at 85,392. The company also added that cost pressures, including commodity price increase resulted in a reduction in the operating margins to 8.4% in standalone financials. As reported earlier, Tata Motors’ domestic sales were down by 6% in the same month.

Tata Motors said sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were flat at 19,119 vehicles in July 2011. While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand were down 23% to 4,372 units, Land Rover sales were up by 8% at 14,747 units

Total passenger vehicles sales fell 24% to 38,154 units in July 2011 over July 2010. Commercial vehicles sales were up by 16% to 47,238 units. The company’s market share in Indian commercial vehicle segment was 60.1%. The market share in passenger vehicles stood at 11.9%.

The Tata Motors Group’s global sales comprise Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles, along with the distributed brands in India; Jaguar and Land Rover.
