India’s largest automobile company, Tata Motors, yesterday launched the new facelifted Indica Vista hatchback without any hype or hoopla. The new Vista petrol is priced Rs.3.88 lakh onward and diesel variant will available from Rs Rs.4.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The major change is that Tata Motors has done away with ‘Indica’ tag from the name and the new car will be just called ‘Tata Vista’.

The new Tata Vista, with a mileage of 22.3 km per litre for diesel and 16.7 km per litre for petrol, will be available from Sep 1, Tata Motors said in a statement. The new version comes with powerful engine options, stunning new looks, new features and quite a space inside.

Exterior:

The new Tata Vista comes with a new front chrome grill, complemented with a new triple barreled head lamp, just look similar to Tata Manza. The new headlight is claimed to have improved visibility in low-light conditions. The car has generous chrome package on the exteriors, sporty new alloy wheels and a new signature color, Summer Sparkle. A mirror polished garnishing below the rear windshield is another new inclusion.

At the rear, a black strip of plastic has been added to the lower edge of the rear windshield. Apart from that, the Vista is instantly recognizable from the neat edge that runs along the side of the car

Interior:

The new Tata Vista gets the dashboard from the Tata Manza. The four-spoke steering wheel is also carried over from the Manza and so is the center console. It sports audio controls, which controls a fully integrated 2-DIN music system. It offers connectivity via USB, Auxiliary input and Bluetooth using what Tata Motors call the Blue 5 technology that helps pair upto 5 mobile phones. Outer rear view mirrors can be adjusted electrically using the joystick on the driver side door pad. The HVAC controls too are now electrically operated.

In order to step up comfort, new Vista has adjustable driving positions. The steering can be tilted, adjusted and the height can also be set. Seats have lumbar support. There is enough luggage room at the rear.

Engine Specifications:

Tata Motors has not made any changed under the hood. The same 1.3 litre common rail direct injection Quadrajet diesel engine and 1.4 litre MPFi Safire petrol engine powers the new Tata Vista.

Other Features:

The other major addition is the Clutch-to-Start feature which ensures that one cannot crank the engine unless the clutch is fully pressed, hence there is no risk of re-crank if engine is on.
Other driveability pleasures include:

•    Lower pedal clutch effort and smoother clutch operation.
•    Improvement in braking efficiency by 15% owing to the bigger brake booster.
•    Lighter and more responsive steering
•    Smoother gear shift due to improved shift mechanism.

Safety Features:

The new Vista also comes with added  safety & security features like ABS with EBD, dual airbags, crumple zones and side intrusion beams, engine immobilizer and remote keyless entry.
