India’s largest utility maker, Mahindra & Mahindra, has quietly launched a no frill variant of its flagship SUV Scorpio. The Scorpio LX, which features 4-wheel drive is priced at Rs. 9.17 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new variant is introduced to take on Mahindra’s XUV500 which is slowly eating into the sales of the Scorpio.

Mahindra Scorpio LX 4X4 will be the mid level Scorpio and will come with four wheel drive but will not have several features that one can see in the top end variant. The new variant is similar to the LX 4X2 on the outside, except it features 4X4 stickers on the vehicle and free wheeling hubs.

Engine Specifications:

The Scorpio LX 4WD is powered by same 2.2 Litre diesel engine which produces 120 BHP of peak power and a whooping 290 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission primarily driving the rear wheels. This is the same engine present on the SLE and VLX variants of the Scorpio, too.
