Toyota Kirloskar, Volkswagen India Sales Jumps In October

Two of the largest automobile companies in the world, Toyota Motor and Volkswagen, have registered healthy increase in its sales in India in the month of October 2011. Volkswagen India reported a 67.30 per cent sales jump in October, while Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered 63.01 per cent year-on-year increase.

Volkswagen India sold 7,266 units in October compare to 4,343 units in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement. Compact car Polo and sedan Vento continue to be the backbone for the brand, with a total of 6,814 units sold in October, 2011, the company added.

Neeraj Garg, Volkswagen Group Sales India Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “Our action model strategy has once again proved to be very successful, with the Polo and the Vento Breeze being a huge attraction for customers during the festive season.”

Toyota Kirloskar Motor managed to sell 10,762 units for October 2011 as against 6,602 units in the corresponding month last year, TKM said in a statement. TKM, a joint venture between the world’s largest car-maker Toyota and the Kirloskar Group, attributed the growth to healthy sales of its latest sedan, Etios, and small car Liva.

“The growth in sales is mainly driven by Toyota’s latest entrants Etios and Etios Liva, which sold 3,405 and 2,454 units, respectively,” the company said.

Multi-utility vehicle Innova, premium sedan Corolla Altis and sports utility vehicle Fortuner recorded sales of 3,411, 700 and 763 units, respectively.
