Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has lined-up a slew of concept cars to be showcased at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2012 in January. The vehicles includes shock inspiring Land Rover’s DC100 and DC100 Sport along with poster-worthy Jaguar C-X16 concept.
Jaguar may also display the turbine-powered C-X75 supercar at the show. To be developed with Williams F1, only 250 units will be built from when it goes on sale in 2013. The facelifted XF and Evoque will be the other cars at the JLR hall.
Land Rover’s DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts investigate the potential design direction for a substitute for the iconic Defender which is due for replacement in 2015. Land Rover Chief Designer Gerry McGovern, who unveiled the new DC100 Concept to the Los Angeles Auto Show, stressed that while the company is serious about building a new Defender, this particular concept may not be representative of the future production version.
Jaguar C-X16 concept takes its place as a modern rendition of the E-Type with various design cues that pay tribute to the legendary two-seater. It comes with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine under the hood paired with an electric motor built into the 8-speed transmission. The combination produces 468 horsepower and 505 lb-ft torque, which Jaguar says is good for a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.
