Mahindra, Tata Motors November Sales Rises

Top Indian automobile companies, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors, reported a healthy sales growth in the month of November 2011. Mahindra registered 52.71 per cent rise in November, while Tata Motors’ sales rose by 40.64 per cent.

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 40,722 units last month, compare to 26,666 units in the same month of 2010. In the domestic market, the company registered a 51.63 per cent rise in sales to 38,159 units during the month, compared to 25,166 units in the year-ago period, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.

Total sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 17,813 units during the month under review, as against 12,323 units in November, 2010, a which is a 44.55 per cent increase.

Rajesh Jejurikar, M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) said, “We are delighted with our outstanding growth in November, wherein in spite of the market slowdown post the festive season, we have been able to maintain a consistent performance. All our brands are doing well, with the excitement around XUV500 continuing as we ramp up production.”

Tata Motors sold 76,823 units in November 2011 compare to 54,622 units in the same month last year. The homegrown firm’s total passenger vehicles sales in the domestic market stood at 27,737 units in November, up 80.81 per cent from 15,340 units in the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.

The company’s small car Nano’s sales stood at 6,401 units during the month compared to 509 units in the year-ago period, recording an over 12-fold jump.

The ‘Indica‘ range reported a sales of 10,926 units against 5,716 units in the year-ago period, up 91.15 per cent, Tata Motors said.

In addition, the ‘Indigo’ family recorded sales of 6,213 units, up 3.39 per cent in comparison to 6,009 units in the same month last year. Sales of ‘Sumo’, ‘Safari’ and ‘Aria‘ grew by 35.13 per cent to 4,197 units compared to 3,106 units in the corresponding period last year.
