Japanese car maker, Nissan Motors, today launched a diesel version of its mid-size sedan Sunny. The car will be available in two variants with Sunny Diesel XL priced at Rs 7.98 lakh whereas Sunny Diesel XV is available for a price of 8.78 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).
“We are delighted to introduce the diesel variant of the Sunny. At a time when the market is witnessing an increase in demand for diesel cars, Sunny diesel, with high fuel economy will be the right choice for our valued customers,” Nissan Motor India managing director and chief executive Kiminobu Tokuyama said.
Engine:
The 1.5 litre, K9K engine, taken from the Renault – Nissan Alliance, but in a different state of tune, has the power figure of 86 PS @ 3750 rpm and torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 rpm. The four cylinder engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission in both trim versions.
According to Nissan, this diesel motor has an ARAI Certified fuel efficiency of 21.64kpl. India is the first market where the Sunny is being sold with a K9K diesel engine.
Colour options for Nissan Sunny diesel include, Brick Red, Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, Storm White, Blade Silver, and Bronze Grey.
Safety Features:
In terms of safety, the Sunny diesel comes equipped with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA),Engine Immobilizer and Airbags with its focus on young professional with a lot of kilometres to travel on a daily basis.
Other features includes body-coloured bumpers, an on-board drive computer, manually adjustable anti-dazzling mirror, body-coloured and electronically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors, chrome-plated outside door handles and radiator grille, steering-mounted audio controls, rear A/C vents and remote keyless entry.
