German luxury car maker Audi unveiled its much-awaited compact SUV Q3 at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. Audi also revealed hybrid variant of the A3 sedan called E-tron. Bollywood actresses Katrina Kaif and Lisa Ray were present at the event.
Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, said about the Audi Q3, “Here’s an efficient, sporty and versatile SUV that’s trendy at the same time. It’s classic coupe-like styling design highlights it’s sporty DNA. A lightweight body, efficient drivetrains and chassis is backed with futuristic multimedia and assistance systems.”
Audi Q3 will directly compete with BMW X1 and it will sport both gasoline and diesel power plants. Its overall looks prove to be quite unique as compared to other SUVs present in the market. Q3 has less kerb weight and makes use of powerful and efficient drivetrains. It carries an unconventional chassis and stands apart in terms of assistance and multimedia systems.
The Audi A3 E-tron car also showcased at the Audi pavilion was another model that will come into India likely to be launched in 2013. The Audi A3 E-tron comes with a 211hp, 1.4 TFSI four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The electric car is powered by a set of lithium ion batteries which have charge capacity of 12kWh.
The car measures 4.44 mtr. (Length) x 1.84 mtr. (Width) x 1.39 mtr. (Height). The car’s chassis consists of a considerable percentage of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP).
