Auto Expo 2012: Toyota Launches Facelifted Innova, Fortuner

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd. launched new Innova and Fortuner SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. The company also previewed all new 2012 Camry which will be launched in the country in the third quarter of 2012.

Speaking at the launch Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa, managing director, TKM, said “The Innova and Fortuner are very important vehicles in our Toyota line up and have played a very important role in the growth of sales and expansion of operations of Toyota in India. The Innova is based on Toyota’s IMV platform – international innovative multipurpose vehicle – which is also used for the Fortuner. Toyota initiated the IMV project to achieve a global manufacturing and supply system for utility vehicles.”

The upgraded Innova is quite refreshing and the new wrap around headlights and angular lower grill lend it a sporty look. The interiors of the Innova, when it was launched were quite impressive and now they have been spruced up even more. The dash of the top end variant will receive a touch screen, DVD display and integrated audio controls in the steering. The new Innova has a price range of Rs 9.4 lakh to 13.19 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

The new Fortuner comes with 2WD 5-speed manual transmission and 2WD 4-speed automatic transmission options. It is also available with a 3.0-litre D-4D diesel engine in 4WD and 2WD. Changes to the exterior include a new inverted trapezoidal grille, automatic HID headlamps and alloy wheels.

Interiors now come with a black wood finish and the Fortuner also sports a 2DIN six-inch touchscreen system with DVD, AUX, USB and Bluetooth compatibility. It is priced at Rs 19,99,000 for the 4×2 Manual, Rs 20,69,000 for the 4×2 Automatic and Rs 20,99,000 for the 4×4 Manual. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

The new Camry has got a 2500cc, 4-cylinder dual VVT-i petrol motor that produces 178.5 bhp@6000 rpm and 23.55 kgm@4100 rpm. According to reports, Camry’s motor is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

It was also reported that it has a touchscreen (bluetooth/dvd enabled) media interface and the audio unit is the same as on the new Innova/Fortuner. The new Camry also boasts of dual-zone auto air-conditioning (with rear a/c vents), steering-mounted controls for the media player and other real-time car info, an engine start-stop button, HID headlamps with auto-levelling and six-way electric adjust for the driver and passenger seats.
