December 2011 Sales: Bajaj Auto, Yamaha India Up

The second largest two wheeler maker in India, Bajaj Auto, recorded a moderate increase of 10 per cent in its sales for December 2011. While, India Yamaha Motor showed great improvement in terms of sales, registering a growth of 29.1 per cent for the same month.

Bajaj Auto sold 3,05,690 two- and three-wheelers last month, against 2,76,803 units during December 2010, the company said in a statement. It had registered a growth of 25 percent in the November 2011 selling 3,74,477 units.

Motorcycle sales grew 8 percent, registering the sale of 2,63,699 units during the month under review against 2,43,675 units in December of the previous year. The sales of commercial vehicles grew by 27 percent at 41,991 units as compared to 33,128 units in December 2010.

The company clocked 25 percent higher exports for the month under review at 1,19,708 units from 95,388 units in the corresponding month of 2010.

In the month of December 2011, India Yamaha Motor managed to sell 44,976 units this year as against 34,839 units in December 2010, thereby registering a growth rate of 29.1 per cent.

When it comes to the domestic markets, the sales grew by 25.3 per cent, with 33,290 units in December 2011 vs. 26,567 units sold in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 11,686 units in December 2011 while 8,272 motorcycles were exported in December 2010, a growth of 41.3 per cent.
