December 2011 Sales: Toyota Kirloskar Up 151%

Japanese automobile giant Toyota Motor Corp’s Indian joint venture, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, reportedĀ an increase of 151 percent in its sales for December 2011. It soldĀ 15,948 units last month compare to 6,359 units in the same month of 2010. The overall sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motor for the calendar year 2011 grew by 82 per cent year-on-year at 1,36,150 units.

“TKM registered an annual growth of 82 per cent in the year 2011. The company sold 1,36,150 units, as compared to 74,762 units in the previous year,” it said in a statement.

According to the company, its Etios model led yearly sales volumes, with 43,313 units of the Etios sedan and 20,262 units of the Etios Liva small car sold.

The Innova, Fortuner and Corolla Altis models saw sales of 51,930 units, 10,946 units and 9,283 units, respectively, it added.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said the past year has seen good sales despite challenging market conditions and the unforeseen and unfortunate occurrence of a tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand.

“The coming year is of vital importance as we get to witness and contribute to the growing Indian auto industry… We have a new array of vehicles lined up for the year 2012,” Singh noted
