Swedish auto maker, Volvo, has launched new model of its crossover SUV XC60 in India. The 2012 XC60 comes with a new D3 diesel engine and is priced very competitively at Rs 34.4 lakh for the base model, with the top end model retailing for Rs 37.4 lakh.
The D3, detuned version of the inline, 5 cylinder turbo-diesel D5 engine produces 163 BHP of power and 400 Nm of torque. It is mated to a six speed automatic transmission and also comes with an all wheel drive system.
The Volvo XC60 features driver alert control (DAC), lane departure warning (LDW), adaptive cruise control (ACC), ABS, hydraulic brake assist (HBA), ready alert brakes (RAB), tyre pressure monitoring, electronic climate control, panoramic roof, speed dependent steering, blind spot information system (BLIS), cruise, headlamp leveler, rain sensor, power parking brake and power tailgate.
Volvo XC60 is imported into India through Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. It will compete with Audi Q5 and BMW X3, although both are assembled in India through completely knocked down(CKD) kits. But, XC60 is priced well below its two rivals, starting from Rs. 34.4 lakh for the base variant and goes all the way upto Rs. 37.4 lakh.
