After regaining top spot from BMW in luxury cars category in India, Mercedes-Benz have made an onslaught of new car launches. Mercedes-Benz India today announced the launch of the E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY in elegance styling. The the car features the same 1.8-litre turbocharged unit found on the C200 CGI and produces around 183 bhp of peak power and nearly 30 kgm of peak torque.
After celebrating the spirit of open top motoring with the launch of the E-Class Cabriolet earlier in August, Mercedes-Benz India E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY marks the entry point of customers into the E-Class family. The CGI technology combined with BlueEFFICIENCY measures ensures optimized efficiency, performance as well as environmental compatibility. The E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY thus becomes the second Mercedes model to feature these innovative measures.
The E 200 CGI in fact produces more torque than the E 250 V6, which means not only would it accelerate quicker than the V6, it would also deliver better efficiency while at it. Using Mercedes-Benz’ proprietary Blue Efficiency tech, the E 200 CGI is kinder to the environment too, producing a lesser CO2 figure than the supercharged kompressor unit based on the same engine block.
Mercedes-Benz India have priced the car at Rs 38.76 lakh, ex-showroom Pune and Rs 39.5 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it the fifth engine on offer in the E-Class saloon range after the E 350 V6, E 350 CDI, E 250 V6 and E 250 CDI.
Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India Limited, said on the occasion, “E-Class has been an all round success internationally; in India too it is the most popular luxury car in the country. The new E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY is an irresistible combination of power, torque and luxury and further reinforces the broad range within the E-Class offerings.”
The new E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY comes powered with a 1796 CC, four-cylinder, inline engine that is capable of generating maximum power of 137 /183 @ 5600 (kW / hp @ rpm) along with a peak torque of 285 @ 2400 – 4000 (Nm @ rpm). The overall dimensions of the new car is 4868mm x 1854mm x 1471mm (L x W x H ) and the wheel base is 2874 mm.
