maruti suzuki logo picsWith net profit down for lat six months, Maruti Suzuki is feeling the heat. The largest car maker in India blame increased input prices for its decreasing profit. Now for the same reason the company is hiking prices of its all car models except Alto and Grand Vitara. The prices were increased from today ranging between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 7500 depending upon the model and the variant. The approximate price revision on various models (Ex Showroom, Delhi) ranges between Rs 2,000/- and Rs 7,500/-. The price increase ranges between 1 per cent and 1.5 per cent across models.

The price of Wagon R LXi is up by Rs. 3500 and VXi by Rs. 4500. All Swift models are expensive by Rs. 4500 while SX4 got expensive by Rs. 7500. There is no change in price of Grand Vitara, nor for Maruti Alto.

Maruti has been posting sturdy sales in the Indian market and has ramped up its production plans as well. It is also increasing its production capacity at both its plants to reduce the waiting period on all its best selling models like Swift and Swift Dzire. Maruti’s domestic sales surged 33.4% to 90,114 units and exports rose 1.9% to 10,743 units in July 2010 over July 2009. Maruti Suzuki said the domestic sales were the highest ever in a month.

With this, the company is all set to launch its flagship small car model Alto in a new version in the Indian market on 4th of August. The new car has been named as Maruti Alto K10 which will be powered by a new generation 1.0 K-series engine. The new Alto K10 will offer a comparatively high mileage as well as low emission level as against the existing Alto model. The new model will be compatible with new BS-IV emission norms.
