Nitin Riding high on the success of its Polo hatchback, Europe’s largest car maker, Volkswagen launched Polo’s sedan version. This entry level sedan is called Vento. The company announced the car price yesterday starting at Rs 6.99 lakhs, for the 1.6 litre petrol variant and Rs. 7.99 lakhs for the diesel variant, Ex. Showroom New Delhi. Volkswagen has already started taking bookings for the car and will begin deliveries from September 06, 2010.
Speaking about Volkswagen’s market introduction of the Vento, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said, “The New Volkswagen Vento, which stands for best in class features and German engineering is poised to set a benchmark in its segment. Designed for the Indian market it will be a strong addition to our product portfolio.”
Adding further he said, “The New Volkswagen Vento is an extension of our commitment towards the Indian consumers of providing the best quality products at competitive prices.”
Prices of other models are 1.6 Highline Petrol (manual): Rs 8.23 lakh, 1.6 Highline Petrol (automatic): Rs 9.21 lakh, 1.6 Trendline TDI (manual): Rs 7.99 lakh, 1.6 Highline TDI (manual): Rs 9.23 lakh.
Volkswagen already has six models in its product portfolio including Passat, Jetta, Polo, Touareg, Phaeton and Beetle. Volkswagen Vento is being manufactured at company’s Chakan plant near Pune.
