Kimi Raikkonen Returns To F1 With Lotus GP

Kimi Raikkonen will return to Formula 1 next season after signing a two-year deal with Lotus Renault GP. The Finn, the 2007 world champion, quit F1 in 2009 to pursue a career in rallying but has decided to return with Lotus Renault after talks with Williams fell through.

Sebastian Vettel Wins Inaugural Indian Grand Prix

World champion Sebastian Vettel cruised to his 11th victory of the season at the Buddh International Circuit to win first ever Indian Grand Prix at Greater Noida.  The German, who two races ago secured back—to—back titles, led every lap of the race, beating McLaren’s Jenson Button into second place while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso took third place.

Red Bull’s Vettel Takes Pole Position At First Indian Grand Prix

World champion Sebastian Vettel gave Red Bull a record 16th pole position in one Formula One season when he dominated Saturday’s qualifying for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix. Vettel clocked 1 minute 24.178 seconds on the 5.125km Buddh International Circuit to rank ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton (1:24.474) and Mark Webber in the second Red Bull (1:24.503).

Buddh International Circuit Inaugurated

The Buddh International Circuit was unveiled on Tuesday ahead of first Indian Grand Prix to be held on 30th October. The 5.4-km long racetrack was formally opened in the presence of Manoj Gaur, the chairman of Jaypee Group, Vicky Chandhok, president of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and India’s first F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan.

Sebastian Vettel Dominates Korean GP

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel came back to his winning ways at Korean Grand Prix after losing Japanese GP last Sunday where he was declared 2011 Formula 1 World Champion. He also handed Red Bull back-to-back constructors titles with his 10th victory of the season.

Sahara Group Co-Owns Force India F1 Team

Sahara India Pariwar announced an equity investment in the Force India Formula One Team, India’s only F1 team.  Sahara India Pariwar will be investing approximately $ 100 mn into the Force India Formula 1 Team. With this investment both the Sahara India Pariwar and Dr. Mallya will own 42.5% each in the team. The Mol family’s equity will be at 15%.

Sebastian Vettel Becomes Youngest Double World Champion

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel claimed the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship after finishing third at Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday. The 24 years old became the youngest double world champion in the history of F1 racing. McLaren’s Jenson Button won the race as Fernando Alonso came close second in his Ferrari. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton survived a puncture and another clash with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa to finish fifth.

Renault Hatchback Concept To Be Unveiled At Indian GP

French car maker Renault is seeing the upcoming Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix as a big opportunity to build its brand in the country. After announcing a Rs 6.5 crore plan for its marketing activities at the Indian GP, to be held on 28-30th October, Renault India will showcase its hatchback concept at the event itself.

Lady Gaga To Perform At Indian GP Closing Party

International pop queen Lady Gaga will perform at a party scheduled following the inaugural Indian Grand Prix race on October 30. The closing celebrations is organized by Lap, an exclusive New Delhi nightclub, co-owned by Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal and restaurateur AD Singh.

Lewis Hamilton Thrills Bangalore Motorsport Fans

Bangalore motor racing fans had a treat yesterday when McLaren-Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton set the city road on fire driving his 2008 World Championship winning MP-4-23 car. The drive was organized by Vodafone for a promotional event ahead of the Indian Grand Prix scheduled to be held at Greater Noida next month.
