General Motors India unveiled the first two products from its joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), the Chevrolet Sail premium hatchback and the Chevrolet MPV Concept, at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. GM hasn’t revealed the specifications of the two cars that will be launched later this year in India.

Abhijeet.S US car maker General Motors is going to introduce its first commercial utility vehicle in India next year, according to a report by Economic Times. The company has appointed Mr. Ashutosh Khosla as its director, sales and marketing, commerical vehicles. Mr Khosla, who was with Piaggio Vehicles till recently with the same portfolio, will be based in Pune, the report added.

Baojun means “treasured horse” and the brand’s logo does have a horse head. This incredibly frugal tasteful compact sedan looks to go on sale sometime in the first half of 2011 in the Chinese market.
GM-SAIC to launch Hong Guang in Indian market soon

Nitin GM’s SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture has begun sales of the Wuling Hong Guang in China. Hong Guang is China’s first compact business car. Nine Hong Guang models priced from $6,600 to$9,000 are available in China. The model is expected in the Indian market by mid-2011 and will be possibly sold under the existing brand name Tavera from General Motors. The new car is expected to have the price tag of Rs. 7 lakh in India. It will compete against the models like Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo.
GM To Make Small Car To Take On Tata Nano

With Tata’s runaway success with Nano and increasing demand for affordable small cars for middle-class Indians, General Motors India, the Indian subsidiary of world’s second largest car maker GM, has started the process of research and development (R&D) to make its mark in the small car segment of the country.
The company will work in partnership with its Chinese partner SAIC to come-out with the best possible route to make a low-cost fuel-efficient car for the Indian market. To reduce costs the company will do a major chunk of manufacturing input in India. Tata Nano, the current ruler in the low-cost car segment will face stiff competition from this car.
