Ford Plans Maruti A-Star, Hyundai i10 Competitor Priced At Rs 3-4 Lakh

According to some reports, Ford Motor Company has started developing a global small car to be manufactured at its new Sanand facility. The US auto major invested $1 billion to build a vehicle assembly and engine plant in Gujarat last month. The new small car, which will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki A-Star and Hyundai i10.

Ford Will Not Make A Nano Competitor

The world’s fourth-largest carmaker Ford Motor Company has no plans to make a car which would compete with the Tata Nano, world’s cheapest car. The US automobile giant is shying away from ultra-low-cost car market after seeing lukewarm response to Nano sales. Ford recently invested Rs 4,500 Crore to biuld its second Indian manufacturing plant, in Gujarat.

GM India Drops Plans To Launch Small Car

US car maker General Motors said the company had shelved plans to launch a small car in the Indian market. The company had earlier planned to launch a small car positioned below its Chevrolet Spark to compete with Tata Nano. It feels the prohect is not viable now as the prices of input commodities has already gone up.

Ford To Bring More Small Cars In China And India

U.S. automobile giant Ford Motors is going to bring more small car in emerging markets like China and India, the company’s Asia chief Joe Hinrichs said to Economic Times. The company is going to expand its product line in these countries to meet its ambitious growth target.

Fiat India To Launch Upgraded Palio Soon

Though, India’s small car market is very competitive, it has been witnessing a lots of launches lately. Every automobile company is looking to grab some share in this segment with the launch of new cars. Last year we saw some popular hatchback models like Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo doing well in Indian market. But, Italian car maker, Fiat, did not find any success with its hatchback Punto due to various reasons. So, the company is considering to launch an upgraded version of its Palio hatchback in the Indian market very soon. If the sources are to be believed the new car will be launched with different name.

GM India Starts New Engine Plant At Talegaon, Pune

GM Logo PicsGeneral Motors India today said it inaugurated a new engine production facility at Talegaon, near Pune, in Maharashtra. “This is General Motors’ first powertrain plant in the world that enables both petrol and diesel engines to be manufactured simultaneously,” the company said in a statement. The state-of-the-art facility represents an investment of over $230 million. It has an initial annual production capacity of 160,000 engines and is designed to accommodate future expansion, it added

Piaggio Plans Cheaper Than Tata Nano Mini-Car For India

Tata Motors shows the way and rest follows. After it launched world’s cheapest car in the form of Tata Nano, many other car makers are toying with same idea to make Rs. 1 lakh car. Bajaj Motor has already announced to make a small car to compete with Tata Nano in association with Renault. Now, Italian automaker Piaggio is also getting ready to launch a mini-car in India. Skoda Replacing Octavia With New Car

Skoda India states they soon to replace premium sedan Octavia with the new car.”We are developing a completely new car, to be successor of Octavia…It will be a car also positioned in the ‘C’ segment,” SkodaAuto India Sales and Marketing Director Thomas Kuehl said. Seventh Time Tata Nano Caught Fire

Another Tata Nano catching fire in Ahmadabad. The car was owned by the Rakesh Shah in Ahmedabad said, “Despite apprehensions, I trusted the product owing to the goodwill of the company. Now that I have been saved, how can I trust this car? Thankfully, my family wasn’t travelling with me,”. This time tata nano caught fire due to faulty cabling at the back of the car near the engine. Tata Motor’s spokesperson commented that the matter was being investigated. This is seventh time Tata Nano catches in fire.
